As you embark on training, remember there are better times than others during the day to train a puppy.

In general, the best time to train is when your dog is neither too tired nor too active (of course that depends on the age, personality, and breed of the dog).
Five or 10 minutes before he gets his food is an ideal time to train, especially when he knows that it’s time to eat. When his food bowl stands ready on the kitchen counter, he will very soon understand that training is going to be rewarded, and that he has to work for his food.
A dog in this situation has no problem with training and is inclined to pay more attention to you. In the beginning, two five-minute training sessions are much better than 10 minutes in a row. Always end the training time with a successful exercise; even if it’s just a simple one.
