Obedience Training

Obedience Training2023-01-02T19:39:42+00:00

Obedience commands form a language through which you can communicate your expectations and teach your dog how to socialise in the human world.

At k9 camp our aim is to keep your dog safe and to allow them to remain safe for society. We value that learning to enjoy the process is important so that your dog is always motivated to learn by being in a high dopamine state. Obedience training takes a lot of time, patience, enthusiasm to work and consistency. We will use our knowledge and experience to set your dog up for success.

Our obedience training can teach your dog heel work, ‘down’, ‘sit’, ’stay’, ‘here’, and ‘no’ by applying our knowledge and experience. Every session is different because as your dog gets the hang of things, we progressively add duration, distance and distractions. Our care for your dog is a priority and we want to teach them that learning is always a fun and positive experience.

You may want your dog to be taught only basic commands or more advanced obedience, we would like to provide you with everything we can to suit your specific needs.

By working with us you are ensuring that your dog is getting the most out of their training.

For any questions we would love to hear from you so please get in touch, we are more than happy to assist you in any way we can.

STEP ONE
We take the time to teach your dog how to interact with us. A bond creates trust with the trainer and keeps your dog happy and attentive, which makes the process fun. Food is a high drive for most dogs and can be used as a reward and to lead your dog into positions. Repetition and consistency will lead to progression.

STEP TWO
Once your dog starts to move freely into positions, we add a word that is then associated with the action. Progressively we start to apply duration, distance, and distraction so that your dog becomes confident in these behaviours. Eventually, practice makes perfect.

STEP THREE
The aim is to eliminate using body language as we expect your dog to respond to verbal commands. A verbal command is given with energy and power to give the dog verbal encouragement. Your dog will always be learning and soon treats can be replaced with playing so that training will always be fun.
